Billing software for restaurants

Every plate, on the books.

Platebook takes the order, sends it to the kitchen, prints a proper GST bill and adds up the day for you. It runs on the iPad, Android tablet or Windows computer you already have.

Send us a photo of your menu card and we'll type it in for you.

Bill Table 4 yourself

This is a simplified copy of the Platebook billing screen. Tap dishes to add them, send the new items to the kitchen, then print the bill.

Prices are in rupees. GST is added at 5% and split into CGST and SGST, the usual rate for a standalone restaurant. You set the rates that apply to you.

    What it does

From the first order to the day's last bill

Platebook takes over the jobs that used to need an order pad, a calculator and someone shouting into the kitchen.

    01

Orders go straight to the kitchen

When a captain sends an order, it prints as a KOT on the right printer: curries in the kitchen, drinks at the juice counter. Notes like “less spicy” print right under the dish, so nobody misses them.

    • Extra items print as a new KOT, not a repeat of the whole order
    • Cancelled items print a slip, so the kitchen stops cooking them
    • Every KOT shows the table, the captain and the time
    Kitchen printer
    Juice counter printer

    02

    Every table at a glance

See which tables are free, which are still eating and which are waiting for the bill, in the AC hall, the non-AC side and the family room. Move a group to another table or join two tables without starting the order again.

    03

Close the day in a few minutes

At closing time, count the cash and type in the total. Platebook tells you straight away if the drawer is short, then prints the day's report: bills, discounts, GST, and what came in by cash, UPI and card.

    04

You decide who can cancel a bill

Everyone logs in with their own PIN. Cashiers can bill but can't delete, and you choose which discounts, cancellations and reprints need your approval. Every change is recorded with a name and a time.

For counters where people pay first and collect their food later.
    Sold out in one tap
Mark a dish as finished and captains can't order it until you switch it back on.

    The bill

Your name on top. Ours, small, at the bottom.

Customers take the bill home, so it should look like it came from your restaurant. This is what Platebook prints, line by line.

    1. Your restaurant first

Name, address, GSTIN and FSSAI licence number. The FSSAI number has had to be on food bills since October 2021.

    2. Easy to trace

Bill number, table, captain, date and time. When someone calls about last night's bill, you'll find it in seconds.

    3. Columns that line up

Platebook prints with your printer's own font instead of a picture of text, so columns stay straight and bills print fast.

    4. Tax, done properly

CGST and SGST shown separately, with the round-off on its own line. On the composition scheme? You get a Bill of Supply instead.

    5. UPI with the amount filled in

The QR code already holds the bill amount, so nobody pays ₹99 for a ₹998 bill.

    6. Our logo, kept small

One small Platebook logo at the very bottom. That's all the space we take.

    Printers and devices

Works with what's already on your counter

There's nothing special to buy. If your counter has a tablet or computer and a thermal printer, you can start billing today. If it doesn't, we'll tell you what to get and what it should cost.

    Questions

    Things owners usually ask

What happens when the internet goes down?

Nothing changes at the counter. Billing, KOTs and printing all work without internet, and Platebook sends everything to your account once the connection is back. You won't lose a bill.

Can I use the printer I already have?

Probably, yes. Platebook works with the common 80 mm and 58 mm thermal printers sold in India, over USB, network cable or Bluetooth. Tell us the model name and we'll check before you pay anything.

Do I need to buy a new computer or tablet?

No. Platebook runs on iPads, Android tablets and Windows computers, including older ones. Captains can take orders on an Android phone.

    How long does setup take?

Most places are billing on the same day. Send us a photo of your menu card and we'll enter the dishes, prices and tax for you, then help you connect the printers on a video call.

We're under the composition scheme. Will the bills be right?

Yes. Turn on composition mode and Platebook prints a Bill of Supply with no tax lines, as the rules require. Regular GST restaurants get a Tax Invoice with CGST and SGST shown separately.

Can I check sales when I'm not at the restaurant?

Yes. Sales, open tables and cancelled bills update on the owner's phone, so you can see how lunch went from anywhere.

What if I want to stop using Platebook?

Download all your bills and reports as Excel files whenever you like. They're yours to keep, and there's no contract to break or fee for leaving.
